ACE COMBAT 8 mods have documented installation paths for AC8 HOTAS Support, FOV Change and the Cheat Engine Tactical Menu. HOTAS requires Windows x64, a compatible UE4SS build and offline single-player; FOV Change has only been tested in campaign. WeMod released 24 Steam trainer features on October 5, 2026, but all 24 working across current builds is not confirmed yet. Choose the tool below for ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE, then follow its own setup rather than combining launch instructions.
Which mod or cheat tool should I choose?
AC8 HOTAS Support: recommended for separate flight controls
Choose this to bind separate sticks, throttles and rudder pedals. The recommended combined package includes AC8AnalogYaw for proportional yaw; it requires Expert flight controls. For the broader controls setup, see ACE COMBAT 8 HOTAS.
FOV Change: campaign camera adjustment
Choose this for cockpit, HUD and third-view FOV changes through FOV.ini. It uses UE4SS and has only been tested in campaign. As of the October 3 update, the newer release was withdrawn because of an error: use the previous release currently marked main file. A precise replacement version number is not confirmed yet.
Cheat Engine Tactical Menu: controls without UE4SS
Choose this ACE COMBAT 8 Cheat Engine table for flight, ammunition, targeting, mission timer, MRP, hangar and FOV controls. It needs 64-bit Cheat Engine with Lua enabled and a compatible Steam PC game build; no UE4SS or separate loader is required. Saved progression changes can persist after the table is disabled.
WeMod: app-based trainer with mixed results
Choose the ACE COMBAT 8 WeMod trainer if you want app toggles rather than Lua bindings or a Cheat Engine table. Its 24 listed features include God Mode, Set MRP, Unlimited Missiles and Instant Missile Cooldown. Current reports include both working features and failures; review the dated results below before relying on a particular toggle.
If your ACE COMBAT 8 Nexus mods search leads to AC8 Mod Control, its page has been under moderation since October 4, 2026, at 3:35PM. Its availability and installation are not confirmed yet.
How do I install HOTAS with UE4SS?
Fresh installation: use the full package
The full-install download includes a compatible ACE COMBAT 8 UE4SS build, with HOTAS and Analog Yaw enabled. Compatibility with every other UE4SS release is not confirmed yet.
- Close the game. In Steam, use Manage → Browse local files.
- Open
EasyAntiCheat. CopySettings.jsonin that folder and name the copyAC8HOTAS_Offline.json; keep the original unchanged. - In the copy, add a comma after the existing final setting and insert the following setting before the closing brace:
"allow_null_client": "true"
- Save with a
.jsonextension, not.json.txt. In Steam Properties → General → Launch Options, paste this exact line:
cmd /d /c "set EOS_USE_ANTICHEATCLIENTNULL=1&& %command% -anticheat_settings=AC8HOTAS_Offline.json"
- With the game closed, copy the full package's
Gamefolder into the installation root. The loader should be besideGame/Binaries/Win64/AceCombat8.exe. - Connect the controllers, launch through Steam and select Expert flight controls.
- Open
Game/Binaries/Win64/UE4SS/Mods/AC8HOTAS/bindings.lua. Copy device GUIDs and input tokens from its detected-device list to assign controls. All controls start unbound. - Save, then press F5 in game to apply bindings. A newly assigned device may need a USB reconnect.
Existing UE4SS installation: use the mod-only bundle
If you already have the FOV mod's working offline launch setup, keep it and skip the HOTAS offline-launch configuration. With the game closed, copy the HOTAS + Analog Yaw mod-only folders into your active UE4SS Mods folder. Enable AC8HOTAS and AC8AnalogYaw in the existing mod list; do not replace the entire list or loader configuration. HOTAS-only is also an option, but omits the recommended proportional-yaw component.
Keep and back up bindings.lua when updating. Devices sharing a product ID cannot be mapped separately, only the first POV hat is supported, and not every listed action has been tested. Game updates may affect compatibility, especially analog yaw.
Use this setup for offline single-player. Before returning to multiplayer, close the game, disable or remove the UE4SS loader, and clear the offline launch option. If using the full package's dwmapi.dll, move it out of Game/Binaries/Win64; this also disables other UE4SS mods. Disabling HOTAS alone leaves UE4SS loaded. Official permission or multiplayer safety for these tools is not confirmed yet.
What if F5 shows HOTAS RELOAD REJECTED?
- Press F5, then reopen
bindings.luafrom disk to see the refreshed detected-device list. - Compare the full GUID in the error with every relevant
device = "..."binding and the detected list, including button bindings. - Replace mismatched IDs with the exact GUID for the intended controller, save and press F5 again. The expected log message is Config accepted.
One stale ID can reject the entire reload. This diagnosis does not explain every unresponsive controller: a Turtle Beach Velocityone Flightstick user reported working controls alongside sluggish response and a Pause button that did not skip cinematics or replays.
How do I install FOV Change?
- Select the previous release marked main file, then extract it into the game's root directory.
- The installation instructions list this offline command:
cmd /d /c "set EOS_USE_ANTICHEATCLIENTNULL=1&& %command% -anticheat_settings=AC8FOV_Offline.json"
- Edit the desired values in
FOV.ini, then start the game through Steam.
The FOV instructions do not specify where to place that command or how to prepare AC8FOV_Offline.json; those details are not confirmed yet. Do not substitute the HOTAS filename into it. The mod requires EAC disabled because UE4SS may trigger it, and its testing scope is campaign only.
How do I use the Cheat Engine Tactical Menu?
Back up saves before using progression controls. Ownership, mission access and MRP changes can persist when saved; closing or disabling the table does not undo them. For an alternative to an ACE COMBAT 8 cheat for currency, see ACE COMBAT 8 MRP farm.
- Download and extract
AceCombat8.CT. - Open it in 64-bit Cheat Engine and allow the table's Lua script when prompted.
- Launch the game and click MASTER ARM.
- Enter a mission for flight, weapon and targeting controls. Use Ctrl+Alt+H to show or hide the Tactical Menu.
Campaign actions require an aircraft-tree or MRP menu. After grants, leave and reopen the game menus to refresh their contents. Updates may change memory locations and signatures, so a compatible game build is required.
Silent Aim is session-dependent, some campaign menu actions remain under investigation, and background mode plus rewritten alternate patch controls passed offline checks but still need gameplay testing. Full functionality for those features is not confirmed yet.
How do I launch WeMod, and which features work?
- Install the WeMod app and select the game. The discussion also calls the app Wand.
- Click Play inside the app. The player setup advice specifies launching there rather than through Steam.
- Enter a mission, then enable the features you want.
- Re-enable them after every mission. The trainer's controls deactivate to prevent use in multiplayer sessions.
Do not apply the HOTAS Steam launch command to WeMod. The available WeMod instructions use the app launch flow.
