This hub helps you troubleshoot ace combat 8 wings of theve flight controls, from unrecognised flight sticks to sluggish mouse turning. Use the reported HOTAS workarounds to configure your stick, throttle and pedals, or compare keyboard flight layouts when mouse sensitivity changes are insufficient. Device compatibility and mouse response vary across the available reports, so these examples do not establish a universal fix.
Set Up a Flight Stick
If native bindings are missing or incomplete, Joystick Mapper combines a stick, throttle and pedals into one virtual Xbox 360 controller. Select the Ace Combat 8 starting profile, assign device roles and keep the app running while playing. The Default profile creates no virtual controller.
For axis mapping and device-specific support levels, use the ACE COMBAT 8 WINGS OF THEVE HOTAS support guide. Its direct-binding alternative, AC8HOTAS, requires Windows x64, UE4SS, Expert flight controls and offline launching with Easy Anti-Cheat disabled. Native device reports and mapper support levels do not establish an official compatibility list.
Work Around Sluggish Mouse Turning
Maximum in-game mouse sensitivity and higher DPI have mixed reported results. One 16,000 DPI example improved turn rate, but faster turning does not establish that input lag is fixed. Keyboard pitch and roll with mouse weapons provide another reported workaround.
The ACE COMBAT 8 WINGS OF THEVE mouse controls guide compares two layouts. In the keyboard-flight example, A/D controls roll and W/S controls pitch; in the mouse-flight example, A/D controls yaw and W/S controls throttle and brake. Keep those assignments separate when trying a layout.
Mouse weapon bindings and MB4/MB5 assignments for change target and flares have been reported working. The reports do not specify which side button handles which action or establish an exact remapping menu procedure.
Check Your Input Response
For a mapper setup with no response, check that a game profile is active, Xbox emulation is enabled and the virtual controller appears in joy.cpl. Another gamepad can take the player-one slot. For drift, release the stick and use Recenter; for yaw that activates too late, lower the LB / RB Split press point.
Choose a setting for your test flight using ACE COMBAT 8 difficulty levels. Judge mouse changes by whether turning and aiming feel comfortable; maximum sensitivity alone has also been reported to remain sluggish.
